In Scottish tradition, a poet, known also as Thomas of Ercildoune, or True Thomas, as having predicted, it is said, the accidental death of Alexander III., 1283; supposed author of Sir Tristrem, a romance of the Arthur cycle, edited by Sir W. Scott, 1804.
