Chronic liver disease, is not as common as is believed. It may be suspected from the existence of the symptoms above mentioned, when in a minor degree; enlargement, constant dull pain in the region of the liver; sallow countenance; high-coloured urine; clay-coloured faeces, &c. The great object of treatment is to excite a new action by mercury and counter-irritants, and to keep the liver free by cathartics.
